I just uploaded a minor bug fix for my frame buster plugin. It has some extra sanitation code to remove slashes from host entries. For some reason slashes make it through the PHP host filter… odd. Anyhoo, you can download the newest version here.

I’ve also tested the plugin on WP 3.5.1 and it works great!

Just wanted to let you know I updated the frame buster wp plugin. No major changes – just a fix to a critical bug that caused issues between www and non-www domains. I have also confirmed it to work on wp 3.3

If there is one design that a programmer can do – it is a minimalist design! My previous one was always a bit too bulky for my liking.

Anyway, Let me know if you find any bugs with the layout or any have feedback on it!

When I was younger I always looked up to figures such as Bill Gates and Steve Jobs to get me through the tough times in life and while trying to shape my future career in the software industry. If it weren’t for these tech gods, my own life, let alone the future of humanity, would have turned out much different. It’s almost like seeing a childhood hero die.

RIP – You will be missed.

Since apparently I can’t seem to go a day without doing work, I decided to put the finishing touches on a quick’n'dirty wordpress plugin I wrote for a few wordpress sites/blogs I maintain and release it.

Nusuni Frame Buster is a simple plugin that will make your blog either break out of all frames it shows up in, or only specified frames.

While surfing around the WordPress plugin sites I noticed most frame-busters only break out of all frames. While this is useful, it does break legit sites such as Google Images. I tend to think you are better off only breaking out of abusive frames/iframes instead of all of them.

The plugin is licensed as open source under the Modified BSD license – since the GPL is far too bloated for my tastes.

They also helped me figure out a weird memory reporting issue with the kernel. So all is good.

In the coming weeks I will be posting guides on how I set everything up without a control panel – including apache, php, mysql, exim and dovecot (both with SSL and email forwarding and it is insanely easy to add new email accounts), SSH goodness, and so on. I’ve been playing around with a local intel atom sever I run for development and testing so it wasn’t too hard to set everything up on the real thing.

update: holy heck, it is so nice to add a new blog post and have it finish in less than 3 seconds. My old server literally took 10 seconds to add a post. Nice.

At least this way I don’t need to run cpanel anymore (which is slow), and it’ll be a heck of a lot more secure. Think about it – running 2 services (http & mysql) vs running 7+ (http, mysql, imap, pop, smtp, dns, cpanel, etc). Much easier to secure, manage, and optimize.

So we’ll see – If all goes well the sites should see zero downtime, but we’ll see. These things never go 100% according to plan. The switchover will be mid-august
