I just upgraded the version of WordPress here to 2.3.3, since apparently a lot of blogs who run older versions have been getting hacked recently. 2.5 is coming soon… supposedly. Can’t wait till my CMS is done, WordPress updates take to long to upload.
Besides that, I’ve officially made a posting schedule and I’ll try to create weekly and monthly goals in an attempt to get this blog rolling again. Traffic is already back up to 50% of where it was before my vacation, so I suspect within a few weeks it’ll be back to normal.
The weekly posting schedule is as follows:
Monday - Blogging articles, news, trends, tips, etc
Wednesday - Marketing and SEO
Friday - Security, current scams that may affect bloggers, spam news, etc.
In between those days I’ll of course post any important blog-related news that pops up. Basically I am doing a schedule to keep myself on track, since I apparently have blog ADHD and cannot stay focused on just a handful of topics.
I’m going to start working on creating high-quality articles that are packed full of information instead of falling into the trap of writing low-quality long articles that do nothing but make me tired. The average article length will probably be about the same as this post.
The first month’s goal is to double traffic (get it to normal levels) and try to increase the RSS subscription levels by 25%. The next month I will try to double both things. After that I’ll keep trying to double everything as long as I can.
As you can tell, I’m not fooling around with this thing anymore. It’s time to get serious in my quest to dominate the world.

Occasionally I like doing a quick survey to figure out which direction to take Nusuni Dot Com. So, I have a simple question for you. What would you like to see on Nusuni Dot Com? More posts about SEO? More Tools? Something else? Please let me know what you think by leaving a comment or by contacting me.
In addition, I’d like to let you know that a major overhaul of the content management system is still set to occur sometime in March. I’ll let you know before I take down the site for a few hours or possibly a day to make the change. Hopefully it will all go well and there will be very few broken links. The system I am writing should be faster, more secure, and more expandable than WordPress. It will be what I use for my websites from this point forward.

Yes, you heard me right. I am back - all rested up and ready to kick some spammer butt.
And yes, it is a bit earlier than I expected. I am still planning on doing a major overhaul of the system here by the middle or end of March (the original “return” date), with some updated tools and maybe some new ones. Basically I got a bit impatient and wanted to get back into blogging a bit earlier. Oh, and that little joke/lame website I mentioned a long time ago (remember the “please give me stupid questions” post?) will hopefully be launched in a few months.
I would just like to say thank you to everyone for staying subscribed during the past few months. I am well aware that it has been boring around here, but it will be getting much more exciting very soon.
Well, that’s it for now. Time to get started on writing some posts.
Ah yes, and just a quick little side-note. If you find any spammy comments please let me know. The total spams caught by Akismet is now up to 30,000+ and it is averaging 200-300 per day. During the past few months I’ve only had to moderate maybe 50 comments, which ain’t bad considering how much spam has been posted.

Just wanted to check up on everyone and see how you guys are doing.
I’m still planning on making a return to regular blogging sometime soon (March?). Things have been fairly boring around here… but at least traffic levels and subscription levels are up from when I left. I’ve also gone the past two months without even once touching my RSS reader… and you know what? I don’t miss it whatsoever. In fact, I am thinking about giving my RSS reader the boot. Even with a reader I still visit my favorite blogs and news sites all the time - so why read the same info twice?
Despite my escape from the grasp of RSS, I’ve been keeping up with the popular news. And yes, I do know what is currently happening between the 12 year old script kiddies… errr “Anonymous”, and the biggest, richest cult the world has ever seen - Scientology. Personally I think it is hilarious, but what is even funnier is how similar the groups are: they use illegal tactics to prove their sometimes illogical points, they are both cults, they abuse the Internet, they sound exactly the same, have the “if you’re not with us you’re against us” attitude, and they both need to seriously grow up.
However, at the same time I wish Anonymous luck. My hatred of the way Scientology (*cough* heh *cough*) conducts it’s business is greater than my hatred of DoS attacks.

Bet you weren’t expecting a post by me
Just wanted to wish you all a happy new year. Did you make any wishes? I sure did:
- Continue my exercising routines and lose at least 20 lbs
- Turn this blog around and point it back in the right direction again
- Make a nice (at least $500/month) income off the ‘net by the end of the year (2008 is my year - I can feel it!)
- Learn how to better juggle my personal life and work life
- Get a girlfriend (had to toss that in
)
- Finish up all of my current programs and scripts and open source them (probably under a modified BSD license)
- Perhaps start doing heavy-duty affiliate marketing
There’s also a lot more - but that’s the gist of it. What did you wish for, and more importantly, do you think you will keep your resolution?
Oh, and if anyone is wondering how my little break is going, it is fine. It is a bit weird not blogging every day though. In the past few days I’ve slowly switched my main OS over to Ubuntu from OS X Tiger, and I will be dual screening with a 20″ and a 15″ monitor soon (before the 20″ was alone, and the 15″ was hooked up to my iBook G4). I’ve always been a Slackware and Fedora/Red Hat fan - but I must admit Ubuntu is alright and is ten times better than I remember it in the early days.
It is amazing what a simple change of attitude can do for you. I’m getting twice the work done in the same amount of time - and I may even pop back into my regular blog schedule sooner than I had previously thought. When it does relaunch there will be quite a few changes though - hopefully for the better.
Oh well, it is late, so I must be going. Talk to you later.
PS: Thanks again to everyone for your kind, supportive comments - they really mean a lot
