An Update

Here’s a quick update on what’s going on:

Nice Nerd

I’ve been working on a theme for the site, and since it won’t go live until late July or August I might just finish up my CMS and use it for it. I haven’t done much work on the CMS in a while, however.

New Computer

Lately my main workstation has really started to tick me off. It is slow. Plain and simple. I recently bought 2 gigs of RAM for the thing (got it the day after ordering it even though I chose cheap shipping - gotta love New Egg :) ), which helped quite a bit.

However, my video card is pretty much shot. It looks like it has been overheating a bit, and some of the capacitors are darn close to blowing. We’re gonna try replacing those to see if that helps.

Personally I’m not too picky about computers. My future-new one doesn’t need to be a quad core beast, it just needs to run my programming crap fairly well. I’ll probably end up saving around $600 and getting one of those cpu/monitor/printer package deals from some place like Best Buy.

Update: Replacing the capacitors worked, the video card is working perfectly now. I just need to get a fan to help with the overheating issue… hmm.

Please subscribe, or else I will cry. Do you really want to make a programmer cry?

Dude. Buying a ready-made Desktop PC isn’t the best idea for a tech-savvy person, you really should give a careful consideration to setting things up on your own!

Probably the decision on whether or not I build or buy a premade computer will be made based on how much extra cash I have in a few months.

If I have under $1000, I’ll probably just buy one of those packaged deals, since for anything under that price you can’t build one for much cheaper. However, if I decide to build a fairly beefy workstation I’ll just build a custom one.

Pre-made works for me… And my budget!
