One thing I’ve recently been thinking about doing is writing an e-book. I’m not going to be officially announcing anything right now, instead I will just say I’m looking into the possibility of doing either a C or PHP programming guide (maybe both). I’m planning on it being anywhere from 100 to 600 pages. It won’t be free, but it will be fairly priced (a few bucks, $5-$10 probably).
While it doesn’t come through in my writing on this blog - I’m actually a pretty good writer when I take my time. I also have the ability to translate any computer geek jargon into plain language that even non computer users can understand (something most programming guides fail to do). I just figure heck, why not put both things together and teach non-programmers how to program?
If I do get around to doing this and it winds up being somewhat successful (I’d be happy with a few thousand bucks) then I’ll get started on the many other e-book ideas I have (I literally have a notebook full of them). I’m still unsure if I would offer it through an affiliate network, but if I did it’d probably just be ClickBank.
Please subscribe, or else I will cry. Do you really want to make a programmer cry?

I’m working on a book myself, it will be available in 2 formats. A pdf download and a small physical book.
Should be ready in about another few weeks. Where will you produce your ebook?

Cool, is yours going to be on vegan lifestyle/dieting or something else?
As far as producing it, are you talking about tools and such? If so, I’ll probably just use Word or Open Office, then whip up a quicky converter to convert it to PDF and add things like watermarking, protection, etc or use one of the existing ones online.

I’m quite anal about giving out info on it, as i think it is the greatest book on Earth. As do all writers!
But don’t mind discussing the technical aspects of it, just not the topic. I can divulge that my book is not on programming or code, as i don’t know jack about either.
Missy.
P.S. I’m looking into the mechanics of it, as far as production.

Heh I understand, look forward to hearing more about it in the next few weeks though.
Maybe I’m just missing something (it’s now midnight, I’m a bit tired) but are you talking more along the lines of the overall procedure I’m going to use to produce it? Like if I’m going to jump right in or plan it out and do a bunch of drafts, etc?

I think writing an Ebook is a good idea. Just have to setup some kind of automatic payment system so you can sell it on autopilot. Then you can earn pretty good money on it.

I’m thinking of just using PayPal. It’s the one I use all the time and I’ve never had a problem with it. I’d probably just integrate it into a e-commerce module for the content management system I’m currently building.
I guess the one good thing is I know quite a few online marketers, so it shouldn’t be too hard to get a bit of publicity.
