A new way to get blog traffic has just been released - Blog Rush (ref link).
Basically you insert some javascript which will display links to other blogs. Each time you get a hit and the links get displayed you get a credit - which means your blog will get shown somewhere else. Based on some reading I’ve done, it doesn’t seem like CTRs are too high. To test it for myself I just added the code on the sidebar here, I’ll release the results in a week or two.
Because it is javascript-based you don’t have to worry about getting slapped with a SE penalty - they can’t read javascript.
So far I have two complaints:
When signing up it comes to a page that displays your code, I added it and clicked the “I have added the code” button. Then the same page displays but with a little “please add the code” message. I’m thinking they have a bug, I clicked the button a few more times and tried tweaking the code a bit, but it still has that message pop up. Seems like it should have brought me to the account page.
And, there are no customization options. None whatsoever. Of course the service is brand new, so it’ll be interesting to see if that changes. Right now it looks like this:

Please subscribe, or else I will cry. Do you really want to make a programmer cry?
