I’m in a bit of shock right now.
I found out someone stole an article I wrote (the one on registering domains which I recently wrote). I did a whois and found out a law office is the registered owner of the domain. Normally I’d file a DMCA and that’d be that, but this time something else obviously needs to be done.
Here’s a question for all of you, do you think I should report the lawyer who owns the law office to the state bar? As far as I can tell they run similar spammy sites, and they even have the nerve to steal my bandwidth.
Uhg.
Please subscribe, or else I will cry. Do you really want to make a programmer cry?

How did you find out about this? And what actions did you take against it? You said something of bandwith-stealing: I have this “problem” with a bunch of photos on my website.

I found out using a little PHP script I developed called Thiefinder. Basically you can set sites that it should ignore, and whenever an image is loaded on any other sites it is logged.
My little Htaccess generator includes an option for creating the Thiefinder .htaccess code too.
All I did was file a DMCA takedown notice with his host, and althought it took about two weeks, the problem was taken care of.
