Amit Singhal, the “master” of Google’s ranking algorithm recently talked to NYTimes about Google and the search algorithm. There wasn’t really anything interesting in there (as far as SEO goes) until the last page, where he talks about PageRank for a brief moment:
Mr. Singhal has developed a far more elaborate system for ranking pages, which involves more than 200 types of information, or what Google calls “signals.” PageRank is but one signal.
Alright, I don’t want any more e-mails from people bitching about how I say PageRank is a pretty small part of the overall ranking algorithm. Even one of Google’s top people says it. OK… stop it with the e-mails whoever you are.
I am a bit curious what the rest of those 200 “signals” are… hmmm.
Please subscribe, or else I will cry. Do you really want to make a programmer cry?
