Is Google Street View Legal? When Will Google Stop This Nonsense?

I am curious if Google’s new Street View web app is legal. Over the past few days dozens of examples of people’s faces, license plates, etc getting posted on there have been linked to from the blogosphere. Heck, 2 days ago I saw this little charm on Google (a guy in front of a strip club?)

Although they have set up a procedure for getting your house or whatever removed, this still makes me a bit curious.

For years Google has been viewed as a God, but now they are becoming well… the Devil.

As much as I like Google overall, their business is heading in the wrong direction. I think the time has come for Google to be forced to tell us exactly what they collect, and exactly why they collect it. And no, the government should not get involved. Google is a publicly traded corporation, it is up to the shareholders, investors, and customers to make them change, not the government.

I don’t know how, but there has to be some way to force them to change. Making them pay financially won’t work, they are a huge corporation and it would take millions upon millions of people to make a dent in their profits. Perhaps it is time to vote some board members off?

Please subscribe, or else I will cry. Do you really want to make a programmer cry?
