Everyone knows that you can get traffic and links from search engines, social media, and other blogs, but no one really talks about the other sources.
Yesterday I released a small Mac OS X Application called EzChecksum. I posted it to two download sites, and within 4 hours I probably got an extra 50 backlinks, not to mention a bunch of traffic. Today was the same, and it even started getting on a few small blogs here and there. All of that traffic added together has made up a huge % of traffic for the week (and most likely the month).
You too can get traffic from alternate sources. The key is to not even think about it, and to do what you’re interested in. Yesterday when I released that program, traffic was the last thing in my mind, instead I released it because I thought people would enjoy it.
Do you like writing? Why not create an eBook or a few articles and post it (or a link to it) on some sites? How about programming? Why not write up a small program and toss it up on a few download sites?
Heck, pretty much anything that is free is bound to bring in a lot of traffic. People absolutely love free stuff! Even if you offer something for cheap you are bound to get a bunch of extra links and some traffic.
Like I said above, don’t “try” to get traffic, don’t even think about traffic. Just give something away, let some people know by posting about it on other sites (in my case, download sites), and let it go through the net naturally.
Please subscribe, or else I will cry. Do you really want to make a programmer cry?
