Rule Number One Of Owning Multiple Domains - Don’t Use The Same Registrar

Did you hear about that whole controversy with RegisterFly a few months back? They basically screwed their customers and now there is a lawsuit and ICANN complaints, it is a huge mess. What if that happened to you and you purchased a ton of domains through that registrar? Even worse, what if your registrar completely deleted your account? What if they simply made a mistake? It’s scary to think about.

There is a fairly easy way to avoid such issues or at least minimize your damages - use multiple registrars. If one goes down and screws you, at least your other domains are safe.

I am not saying you shouldn’t host multiple domains with the same registrar - I am only saying you should split them up a bit. If you own 5 domains, why not do 3 through one place and 2 through another? If you own 100, why not do 50/50 or 25/25/25/25 splits? At least then if one place deletes your account you only have to fight for 25 domains instead of all 100 (and you can continue monetizing the other 75).

Please subscribe, or else I will cry. Do you really want to make a programmer cry?
