According to a recent survey, four out of five blogs are offensive or dangerous. Of course 99% of the bloggers out there are freaking out and saying, “Oh its a flawed study.. blah blah blah look at me blah.”
While I don’t agree with the exact numbers, and I certainly don’t totally agree with some examples they use, I do have to say probably 70% of the blogs I have visited are nothing more than “F* this” “F* that” blogs and splogs. I have visited a lot of blogs, and very very few are “acceptable” as far as what its content is.
Just remember that while Technorati has a ton of blogs, not every one is listed on there. Don’t forget about sites like Xanga, Blogger, and MySpace which house a ton of unlisted blogs. Most of those tend to be much more amateurish “Fuck the world” type of things.
As far as spyware on blogs goes, I think that is a huge problem with Blogger. A ton of blogger blogs redirect you to warez and porn sites which attempt to auto-download stuff.
Please subscribe, or else I will cry. Do you really want to make a programmer cry?

OMG Jeremy!
I can’t believe how many times you’ve used the ‘F’ Bomb in this post!
You should be ashamed of yourself!
Bla, bla, bla, bla, Look at me!
Heh heh. Sorry. I just couldn’t resist.
My guess is whoever did the study is looking for linkage.

lol, good job sneaking in a link
Anyway, I think the study has the right idea, but i think their actual stats are way off. 4/5 is around 80%, I think the real number is closer to 60-70%. Definitely the majority of blogs are just… well.. ick.
Probably 8% of blogs are splogs (technorati reports that 2-5% created each day are splogs, but that doesn’t include unknown blogs), a good 3-4% are porn blogs, and another 50% or so of blogs are written by people who have no self control.
