Should You Pay For Visitor Generation Services?

For some stupid reason a lot of webmasters think those “20,000+ visitors for $5″ services are for real. 99% of the time they are fake, and they don’t send good visitors.

Most visitor generation services will put your website in a popup or popunder window on their publisher’s sites. Just like with Google’s Adsense program, a lot of these services let publishers insert some simple Javascript to make a little extra money with their site. Generally if someone sees your site in a popup or popunder it will hurt your reputation, especially if one of your loyal readers sees it.

Some services will actually use zombie PCs to send visitors to your site, which will make it appear as though you are getting thousands of hits. In reality those users are not seeing your site.

So should you pay for these services? Umm, no. Anything that promises you 20,000 visitors for an unbelievably low price is probably just a scam.

They are a waste of money, and you would be much better off spending that time and money on improving your site or blog. Remember, traffic is not the only part of running a web site.

Yea, I get a laugh out of them, “You are guaranteed to get your site displayed!”

    It’s all in the wording.

The best thing to use in my opinion is AdWords.

I’ve been thinking about purchasing a few ad displays when I get my sh*t together.

That dude (can’t remember site at the moment) that makes a living from AdSense said that’s one way he gets his traffic.

I’ve only used adwords once for a small test advertisement, I am thinking about going all out with it some day though (when I get some cash…)
