I Just Caught A Sexual Predator In The Act Of Googling!

I was just looking through my log files and noticed one oddity in there, someone was searching for “pedo links” in Google, and the 130th or so result was this page. The page was ranked for “Pedo Links” because I optimized it for “links” and a commentator happened to say:

“Banning MySpace. ROFLAO!
Well OK, fine, but what about the other 100 or so free pedo sites?”

in his comment, so it ranked for “pedo” as well (an SEO oddity).

And, is there any valid reason why someone would be searching for that term? Only reason I can think of is the person is a friggin sexual predator! I doubt someone can “accidentaly” search for that, it is not a misspelling or anything.

Alright, so I looked through my raw server logs and got the IP address, timestamp, etc, and I am currently in the act of writing up an e-mail and sending it to the ISP’s abuse contact.

Can you guys think of anyone else I should report it to? I’m thinking the FBI or something (person is in the US), but I can’t find any way to e-mail them and send them the info. Any tips would be useful.

Maybe I should write up a wrapper page for users who visit via Google that will display a message if someone gets here for that term again… maybe something along the lines of “HAHA, You Sicko! Your IP has just been reported to the feds!”? That’d scare the shit out of them!

24.158.158.xxx (blocked out last part so I can’t get accused of defamation), you better run and hide, the cops will be after you! Muhahahaha!

Please subscribe, or else I will cry. Do you really want to make a programmer cry?

My eyes nearly popped out of my head when I saw Sexual predator and then saw my Screen Name in the post. Good thing I started over and read from the start. LOL
You freaked me out there. I was about to send you a nasty e-mail.

The FBI have a contact address on their home page.

They’ll probably be watching the sicko’s activities for the next few months gathering incriminating evidence.

    Good job!

Ah yes, I just found their contact address. I’ll see what the ISP says first, then mail them a tip.

And yeah, sorry bout putting your name in there :P . Look at it this way though, if you didn’t add in that word then that fellow never would have come to this site, so in a way you helped find a sex predator by setting a bit of an SEO trap. And all that occurred while bashing MySpace as well, life’s good ain’t it?

I just hope something actually gets done. I have a ton of evidence of when this happened, so there is no excuse for the ISP to not be able to look it all up and submit it to the proper authorities. Even if he was at work or a library or something, I am sure they can look it all up as well.

Chances are the person will say something like “Oh well… you can’t prove nuttin!”

I just changed your nickname in the post to “a commentator” by the way, just so people don’t get confused.

[…] weeks or so ago I wrote about how an SEO mishap helped me catch a pedophile while Googling. Throughout the next few days I also caught a lot more people doing similar (albeit not the same) […]
