Why Anarchy Is Bad For The Internet

What is it with people and the whole “I can say whatever I want to on the Internet” attitude? Everyone seems to think that none of their respective country’s laws matter, but in fact it is the complete opposite. The laws do matter.

Anarchy is going to be the thing that causes the Internet as we know it to implode, simply because the governments will have to step in to control it. And you know what happens then? Governments will over-control it, which is what is happening in China.

I’ve been fortunate enough to have Internet access for a long, long time (since I was a child, really). In all these years I have never understood why it is people go around defaming each others’ names and go nude on webcams. What do they get out of it? Absolutely nothing. In fact, the end result is usually negative in nature.

Too many users seem to think “oh it’s the Internet, we can do whatever we want to,” but you really can’t. Can you throw racial slurs over the telephone or flick someone off on T.V. without any consequences? Of course not, so why is the Internet any different? They are all forms of telecommunication after all.

I am just at the point of being 100% annoyed by the little immature brats who go on really good websites and blogs and post absolute nonsense in the comments. If you have ever visited one of those sites then you know which section of the Internet population I am talking about.

The point of this post is this: think before you do anything on the ‘net. That is all. Too many people fail to adequately comprehend their thoughts, thus they act upon them immediately. Those who go around defaming others’ names in comments are no more evolved than the animals of the forest. Do you want to be compared to creatures that throw their own poo and eat bugs?

If you do, then please get a clue and dig yourself a little hole and live in it. Leave the rest of us alone.

Remember, anything you post online can be viewed by anyone, anywhere (except for maybe China), anytime. And yes, even prospective employers can look at your “work.”
