Google has always been a fairly customizable search engine, but I have always wondered why they don’t add the following features…
“Ignore This Site” Button
How hard would it be to add a simple “ignore this website” button on Google? I would pay them $500000000 to add something like that, it would be that wonderful.
A while back I wrote about human edited search engines. Why couldn’t they implement a “ignore this website” button and also make a sort of counter that will send a request to Google to check out the site if it gets enough ignores? It is really a win-win situation. The users can ignore spam sites, and Google can have their users help them defeat spam.
AJAX Search
Come on Google, its the Web 2.0 (almost 3.0) era, get with the picture and make an AJAX search! It’s pretty, it’s cool, and you would be the first major SE to do it.
Search RSS Feed
Digg allows you to subscribe to an RSS feed for a specific search query, why not you, Google? Come on guys, haven’t you a clue about the usefulness of a feature like that?
An obvious use for this would be to track the top results for a specific search query. That way you can spy on your competition with ease ![]()
Please subscribe, or else I will cry. Do you really want to make a programmer cry?
