U.S. Judge Stikes Down 1998 Online Porn Law

A U.S. Judge has struck down a 1998 law that made it illegal for content providers to allow minors access to online pornography. The judge said parents can control what their children can see by using filters. By using filters, others’ free speech rights will not be limited.

This ruling kind of splits my opinion in half. On the one hand I am a huge believer in any anti-pornography measures, but on the other hand I can see where the judge is coming from. I am a strong supporter of the removal of laws that are no longer needed, and this law really isn’t needed any more. Having a few strong laws is better than having many weak ones. This is especially true since this law only controlled content in the U.S., so if they were viewing content from outside the U.S. they wouldn’t be able to do squat anyways.

Also, parents should control their children, not the government. If the parent can’t control their child then perhaps they shouldn’t have had the child in the first place?

Please subscribe, or else I will cry. Do you really want to make a programmer cry?

Parents should control their children, not the government. But some parents just don’t give a heck and let their demon spawn run wild.

I remember the demons from years back, the horrible days on the schoolbus…. *shivers*
