One of the biggest problems in the blogosphere today is all of the amateur “learn how to make money” blogs. I hate those things, and I wish whoever started them would drop off the face of the planet, and here’s why…
Content Regurgitation
The vast majority of those “make money” blogs are either splogs or the entire blog is about information that is common knowledge. I am in no way against writing on a topic that has already been discussed, but an entire blog shouldn’t be on an already saturated topic. A lot of those blogs cover the same information that thousands of other blogs cover, which is probably why 99% of the time they fail in a few weeks.
Bad Advice
Giving bad advice is horrible, and a lot of those “make money” blogs give absolutely terrible advice.
A while back I saw one of these things pop up, I took a quick look, and post number one was “Why you should click on your Adsense ads”. I mean, good grief. How stupid can they be?
Plus, a lot of these blogs are nothing more than landing pages for ebooks and such, so they will constantly say “if you buy this ebook you will become rich!” Problem is, most “make money” ebooks contain worthless information.
Lack Of Experience
Most of these bloggers give bad advice because of a lack of experience. Now, if you admit you have no experience in a field that is fine, but most of these people act like they are hot-shots and they know everything, when in reality they know nothing.
If you have a lack of knowledge and experience in your blog’s market, then admit it from the beginning. Readers like honestly above all else.
They Make No Money
A while back a person instant messaged me on AIM who wanted to talk with me about advertising programs. He ran a few blogs, and I checked them out. He seemed like he know what he was talking about when he explained where the best ad placement is, the best colors, etc. I asked him how much he made from all of his blogs from advertising, and guess what he said.
$1.
That is right. He ran 3 “make money” blogs (with one blog that was about advertising income), which have been around for 5+ months, with ads up the whole time, and he made $1 from advertising revenue.
One friggin dollar.
The only people who should teach about making money should be those who make it themselves, or those who admit their faults from the beginning and are running a “my journey to $1,000,000″ type blog. People who act like experts when they are not are scum. Absolute scum. The kind of scum that you wipe off the bottom of your shoe.
Splogs
As I said above, a lot of “make money” blogs are nothing more than splogs. They copy content that was previously published by experienced bloggers, without their permission.
No blogger wants their content taken without their permission. If you find a splog that you suspect is illegally using an article, the blogger who wrote the article would greatly appreciate it if you informed them. And yes, even I (who can be a bit lenient with sploggers at times) greatly appreciate being informed of possible copyright infringement.
They Are Stupid
I’ll just come out and say it. The vast majority of “make money” blogs are run by complete idiots who shouldn’t be allowed to blog. Period.
End of rant.
Please subscribe, or else I will cry. Do you really want to make a programmer cry?

Could you imagine if it were so easy to become rich without doing any or little work?
My backside would be full of sores from sitting on it so much.

I totally agree. I have recently started a website like the journey ones you describe and I’m sick and tired of all the bullshit that people post about how they made a fortune and they’ll tell you how if you just buy this or that ebook they are pimping! Like you say, nearly all of the money bloggers don’t make any money, otherwise they would be busy spending it and not blogging about it!

Yeah, it is just disgusting how many of those bloggers simply regurgitate te same exact information over, and over, and over again, and they don’t have any clue what they are saying.
Thanks for your thoughts, Rookie Millionaire.

Totally agree with you guys, i have seen a lot of bloggs with the only intention of make money. They dont provide any useful articles. The only information you see is articles they buy (and a whole other guys buy the same article), and they doesnt even change a word of two, and so they fill their blogs with adsense and affiliate links, expecting to become rich in a single month.
I really think you can make money with blogs, but its gonna be a long and winding road to become successfull, and this is good news because all the idiots are gonna give up sooner or later.

Joel

Or they just steal people’s articles. And you’d think all those morons would give up - but I think they will keep at it. In their mind it is perfectly alright to make crap sites just to make money (that is why I hate 99% of the affiliate marketers out there who start hundreds of niche sites).
Thanks for your thoughts.
