What is it with people and Alexa rankings? They suck. Plain and simple. Stop using them.
Anyone who uses Alexa rankings as a tool for traffic estimation is a fool. You know why? The rankings are completely dependent upon users who use their spyware toolbar (the Alexa toolbar is detected as spyware by many anti-virus solutions).
It absolutely boggles my mind. Why would someone use Alexa for measuring traffic? The only people who use their toolbar are website developers. So, if you run a site that mostly non-developers visit your rankings will be much worse than they should be.
I really wish Alexa would just drop off the face of the planet so us web developers can finally stop repeating ourselves over and over again.
The only thing it is good for is measuring overall traffic trends. For example, if your traffic drops considerably your Alexa ranking will drop in a similar fashion.
Why is it so many people rely on Alexa so much?
Please subscribe, or else I will cry. Do you really want to make a programmer cry?
