When I first started blogging I was constantly trying to figure out how professional bloggers got their ideas. A few months later, I figured out how.
- Use RSS!!! I am subscribed to roughly 50 RSS feeds, and that is nothing compared to some people (who are subscribed to over 400).
- Check Technorati for the latest trends and fads.
- When you get an idea, write it down! Good ideas come when you least expect it.
- If you run a news blog, PRWeb is your friend.
- Look at the keywords your visitors are using in search engines - write posts about what they are looking for.
- Look at the most popular posts on your blog.
- Create a post about general topics, then write posts about each individual topic.
- Expand on a previous post.
- Read your blog’s comments.
- Ask your readers to submit questions.
- Read comments about your blog on other blogs, if they say your blog is lacking something then write about it.
- Expand your blog’s niche - if your blog is too niched you may find it difficult (or impossible) to get ideas.
- Ask someone to be a guest poster - then add in your own commentary later.
- Go on a rant.
- If you have a collection of old, yet valuable and related posts then link to them and discuss them really quick. New readers may not know they exist.
- Check Digg and Reddit, expand on what other people are talking about.
- Write about how to get more ideas (I’m out of ideas)
