Quick Tip: Google Sitemaps Preferred Domain Feature

You should always use the preferred domain feature on Google Sitemaps. Using this feature you can set how the search engine will display your domain name. If your site is accessible via example.com and www.example.com then your backlinks will be different for each url.

Using the preferred domains tool you can force Google to view the two URLs as being the same thing, which should make your backlink count more accurate. It could also result in some extra pagerank juice.
