I have just enabled WP-Cache on this blog. Since it is slowly getting more popular I decided to save my web host’s sanity.
If you don’t know about it, WP-Cache is a cool little WordPress plugin that will turn your normally dynamic pages into static pages. This means instead of doing tons of MySQL Queries (which can kill a server pretty quickly), you will be presented with a static page. These static pages expire after a specific amount of time, which is when WP-Cache will automatically refresh the static page with any updates.
It can really save a server, especially during a social bookmarking attack. Most shared servers can barely handle getting a site front-paged on Digg without crapping out. But with WP-Cache most shared servers should handle it pretty easily. Many web hosts will detect a Digg attack on a site without WP-Cache enabled as a DoS (denial of service) attack, because the server will stop responding.
So, for now on when you submit a comment it can take up to 1 hour to appear, I have the cache time set to 1 hour.
Please subscribe, or else I will cry. Do you really want to make a programmer cry?
